Preventing the Spread of Raccoon Rabies

Oral rabies vaccination baits will be distibuted by the United States Department of Agriculture in Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Dekalb, Cherokee, and Etowah counties in October 2016. They will be distributed by plane, helicopter and ground personnel to vaccinate raccoons against the virus that causes rabies. The vaccine cannot cause rabies and is safe for many animals including cats and dogs. The vaccine does not contain a live virus.

If you find a bait, please leave it alone unless it is in your driveway or on your lawn. If you need to move the bait pick it up with a glove, plastic bag or paper towel. If you pick it up without a glove wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. You can move these baits to a wooded location or dispose of them in your trash. As with all medications Keep Away from children.

If you have questions or concerns you can visit the National Rabies Management Website at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ws/rabies/index.html or call the United States Department of Agricultures Wildlife Services toll-free number: 1-866-4-USDA-WS. Each bait is also marked with a toll free number.

Testimonial

Randy and the Crew are awesome. They are always nice, they jump right on my animals to find the problem to get them treated asap and They want to know in 24 hours if the treatment is making a difference or not, if I say no they have me bring them right back either the horses or dogs or whatever they stay on top of their game. Love them, dearly !!!
